The Walls of Kosovo - an Aleksandar Manic Film

“Kosovo is the cradle of the Serbian state and its culture. But in this cradle there is a stranger’s child.”

Walls surround Albanian houses in Kosovar villages: they seem like strongholds in the eyes of many Serbs. A wall has divided the elementary school in Pristina into Serbian and Albanian parts since 1992 and local children grow up with the notion that insurmountable barriers divide one ethnic group from the other.

No one any more expects the walls between both ethnic groups to be torn down. This documentary captures the troubled relations in Kosovo on the brink of war, allowing the Serbian as well as the Albanian point of view to emerge.
